Eventually , many people are happy with an mp3 file and think that the audio have a good quality , however , those people have no idea what is missing there to be so small even at 320kbit compression .
Using Spek audio spectrum analysis you can see the difference between mp3 and a original Flac file retrieved directly from an original audio cd like i upload to this blog .
Example : 2 audio files , same song , 1 mp3 and other is flac .
MP3 Audio Spectrum
FLAC Audio Spectrum from same song
Above the red line is what is missing in your mp3 file .
More higher frequencies are cutted from the audio in mp3 to keep the file small , same thing does not happen with FLAC lossless Audio quality .
PART 2
Some other examples why mp3 is a thing from the past and should be avoid if you want to keep an audio track with proper quality .
Example : mp3 file compressed to 256Kbit VBR (Variable Bitrate)
Example 2 : mp3 file compressed to 192Kbit
Resuming : When mp3 appeared it was the great new thing , because at that time an Hard Disk with 60Gb was already an huge price to pay , but with time passing by , the need to compress a file to an mp3 was not needed anymore , first 1TB HDD today it is more cheaper than an 60Gb HDD in 1999 .
Many public services these days continue to use mp3 as their main audio file compressor , like radio stations , TV stations to use in their video streams , many deejays or almost everyone of them .
An advice , if you want to keep an audio track with quality without having in the future a regret for its low quality , then use WAV uncompressed or FLAC . Avoid buying tracks from itunes , google , amazon & etc ... , these services only sell audio files in mp3 , and if you are buyng then you must get the highest quality for that product .
Online music stores that sell all their audio tracks in multiple formats (mp3/Flac/WAV)

ReplyDelete¿WAV y FLAC son lo mismo?
ReplyDeleteWAV file does not alow tag and it is uncompressed , while Flac allows tagging (artist name , etc...) and it is compressed .
ReplyDeleteIn terms of audio quality between them , both are almost identical , however , WAV file is more bigger because it not compressed .
The difference between them on a player is that if it is a flac file then the player have to decompress the file to play it , while WAV file it does not need to decompress . On slower CPUS the flac file can lag while playing while that does not happen in WAV file .
mejor calidad flac y wav me quedos con ellos
